Wozniak introduces resolution honoring April as Autism Acceptance Month
RELEASE|April 11, 2024

State Rep. Doug Wozniak has introduced a House Resolution promoting April as Autism Acceptance Month 2024 in Michigan.

Autism Acceptance Month is observed annually as an opportunity to increase awareness and acceptance of autism and to celebrate neurodiversity and the unique strengths and abilities of individuals on the autism spectrum.

“I cannot overstate the importance of observing Autism Acceptance Month,” said Wozniak, R-Shelby Township. “By celebrating neurodiversity, we continue to advance inclusivity and connectedness in our community and empower the neurodiverse to live full and engaged lives.”

About 1 in 36 children were identified with autism in 2020. This suggests that approximately 75,000,000 people (or around 1 percent of the world’s population) fall on the neurodiversity spectrum.
