State Rep. John Roth today attended the Michigan House of Representatives annual 9-11 Memorial Ceremony on the Capitol lawn.

The ceremony includes the ringing of a fire bell in memory of first responders and public safety officers who died honorably in the line of duty throughout Michigan in the past year.

During this annual tradition, legislators invite first responders and members of the military from their communities to be their guests for the service. Roth was joined by Manistee County Sheriff Brian Gutowski, Benzie County Sheriff Kyle Rosa and Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea.

“It was an honor to welcome our local sheriffs to attend today’s memorial ceremony,” Roth said. “We can never say enough to thank our public safety officers and first responders who keep us safe every day. September 11 is a fitting time for this ceremony, while we reflect on and solemnly appreciate the many heroes who responded to the attacks 23 years ago today.”
