Legislator expresses gratitude to the people he serves

State Rep. Pat Outman (R-Six Lakes) was named Best Public Official of 2024 in The Daily News Readers’ Choice Awards.

Award recipients are selected by Daily News readers in Montcalm and Ionia County by way of an online poll.

“I’m at the capital to serve the very people who selected me for this esteemed award, so I am very honored to receive it,” Outman said. “Their opinion is what matters to me more than anything else, and I keep that in mind with every decision I make in the state House.”

Outman frequently submits columns to The Daily News to keep the people he represents informed about current events facing the state of Michigan. He also hosts town halls and office hours regularly throughout his district.

The legislator has also taken swift action to address constituent concerns. He recently had a bill signed into law that helped a local summer camp that was burdened by outdated government regulations, and another signed into law last year that ensures anonymity for Michigan Lottery winners.

Outman said his ability to serve his communities relies largely on his whole team.

“I couldn’t do my job without the excellent team members I have had on my staff during my time in office. This award speaks to their dedication to our district as well,” Outman said.
