State Rep. Ken Borton, center, presents state tributes to Otsego Lake Township Clerk Mary Brown and her husband, township Treasurer Jerry Brown, on Thursday, Oct. 20.
State Rep. Ken Borton, R-Gaylord, last Thursday honored Mary and Jerry Brown for the couple’s long-time public service in Otsego Lake Township’s government.
Mary Brown is the township clerk, and previously served as a township trustee. She also served nine years on the Otsego Lake Township Fire Department. Jerry Brown has served as township treasurer since 2013. He also served on the Fire Department, in addition to service in the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office and as constable.
Borton said: “For many years, Jerry and Mary Brown have wholeheartedly served the people of Otsego Lake Township. As treasurer, Jerry safeguards taxpayer dollars, while Mary represented the community as a trustee and now administers elections as clerk. The Otsego Lake community truly appreciates this dynamic husband-and-wife duo for their faithful public service — past, present, and future.”
At the Otsego Lake Township Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, Borton presented a state tribute to each of the Browns to honor their record of service.
State Rep. Ken Borton criticized a new effort by Lansing Democrats to give union bosses more leverage over workers, fund union dues with tax credits, and allow unions to skirt campaign finance limits.
